Definition:
Those who work in Capital Markets are involved with the deal origination, syndication, and securitization of both equity and debt products, the markets are generally split into these two categories:
 
Debt Capital Market or Fixed Income Markets focus on all the markets for trading debt securities, such as bonds and other fixed income products, to raise long-term funds.

Equity Capital Market is the market between companies and financial institutions that raises equity capital for the firms. This includes allocation of new issues, IPOs, warrants, and private placements. Equity Capital Markets also deal with derivatives as well.
