Definition:
Clearance involves the post-trade , pre-settlement activities required to reconcile orders between parties involved in financial transactions. The clearing process includes the matching of buy/sell orders, reporting, margining, netting, and tax handling for orders. Clearance houses are financial institutions that provide clearance and settlement for over-the-counter (OTC) or exchange-based trades.
