Definition:
An Estate Tax Counsel professional works with a High Net-worth Individual or affluent family on their estate plan to help them allocate assets in such a way as to evade as much federal estate tax as possible. This allows the estate owner to maximize his/her financial goals in leaving ample wealth to his/her beneficiaries upon passing. The Estate Tax Counsel role is a legal and tax specialty for an attorney or an accountant with the experience to consider a myriad of tax implications, such as restrictions on the amount of tax-free assets that one is warranted to leave to his/her heirs.
