Foundations & Endowments

Back to Index

Definition:
Foundations & Endowments is a subdivision of finance which invests capital from a foundation or endowment fund with the objective of developing the fund over a long period of time. Many foundations and endowment funds are designed to spend their fund’s investment income from dividends for charitable matters in a way which allows the principal to remain intact. An endowment fund’s Investment Policy prescribes the nature of investments that can be made in order to meet return targets; a team of research and investment professionals carry out this policy though risk management, asset allocation, and long-term investments.
