International Securities Identification Number

Definition:
International Securities Identification Number (ISIN) is a unique identifyer code for securities which are traded internationally. ISINs are issued by a country's National Numbering Agency (NNA) and includes a country identifing code, a nine character security identifier code, and a check digit (used for error detection). The code is not the same as a company's ticker symbol nor does it identify which exchange a security is traded on.
